We live in especially hectic and stressful times, and when these emotionally charged times combine with emotionally charged incidents, the results can be volatile. Friends and families may find arguments escalating and blowing up. One such incident may have occurred with a local recently that lead to a stabbing, death and arrest.
The stabbing incident
While the incident was originally thought to be a burglary, according to the Beaumont Police Department, a 32-year-old local man got into an argument at a home in the 2900 block of Charles Street last week. This resulted in a stabbing that left the victim dead by the time first responders arrived. Witnesses claimed the local man was responsible, and that he fled the scene.
The arrest and charges
The local man was eventually arrested by the Victoria Police Department in Victoria County. He is now charged with murder as a result of the stabbing. After the arrest, the Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace, Ben Collins, Sr., ordered the man held on $1 million bond. And, as of the last reports, he is still being held in Victoria County Jail.
After an altercation
For Beaumont, Texas, residents that have an altercation with another that involved any touching, call an attorney immediately. The attorney can help coordinate with the police for one to turn themselves in without the need for the police to serve a warrant or the potential of being killed by police during that service.
Plus, ensuring that one’s freedom is protected requires crafting a strong criminal defense as soon as possible. Involving an attorney as early in the process as possible can be extremely helpful in creating that strategy.
